All classical ballet classes at The Edge are taught in accordance with the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) syllabus.  The Royal Academy of Dance is the world's largest and most influential upholder of classical ballet standards.

The Edge offers students from 5 years to adults to participate in R.A.D. syllabus classes.  Classical ballet training with the Royal Academy of Dance opens a whole host of doors and opportunities for students. Whether you just want a fun form of exercise or are intent on pursuing a career in dance, ballet classes with Academy Registered teachers will enable you to achieve your personal goals.

The benefits of learning classical ballet include improved posture, balance, alignment, strength and conditioning, flexibility and technical placement.  Students will gain knowledge and understanding through classical training that is fundamental in all styles of dance.

EXAMS

The Edge offers the opportunity to sit R.A.D. syllabus exams.  Specific exam classes are available for those students wanting to sit the exams.  Exam classes are not compulsory but are highly recommended for developing the technique and skills required of the exam.
All R.A.D. students have the opportunity to experience exam conditions during a mock exam which is held at The Edge studios prior to the official exams.
Examinations will take place before an examiner of the Royal Academy of Dance. To pass, candidates must meet the published assessment criteria and therefore demonstrate they can confidently proceed to the next level.
The examiner will award one of four pass classifications based on the performance seen on the day in accordance with the established criteria.

R.A.D. exams are held at The Edge mid year.

2008 exam dates will be confirmed.
